Project Title: Health Check – Healthy or Not?
Project Abstract:HEALTH CHECK – HEALTHY OR NOT? The purpose of this project was to see what the difference between Health Check products and products without the Health Check symbol. Using 12 different products purchased at a local Sobey’s, I looked at the Nutrition Labels and compared the amount of: calories, fat content, cholesterol, sodium, sugars, protein, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. As I expected, some of the Health Check products were healthy. To my surprise, a lot of the Health Check products were not healthy. Some of the Health Check products had almost half of the daily recommended sodium in one serving. I was able to conclude just because a product has the Health Check symbol does not mean it is healthy.
