Error Analysis

Method Error

A major source of error comes from the nature of chili peppers. Since peppers vary in the ripeness, their spiciness varies. The riper peppers are more spicy than the less ripe peppers, even though they are the same type. So, only the average spiciness for a type of pepper can be determined. Therefore, the data points in the Analysis section did not fit exactly onto the line.

Instrumental Error

The precision of the results is affected by the precision of the electronic balance, which is only precise up to 0.01 g. An analytical balance can improve the precision greatly. However, due to the unavailability of the analytical balance, an electronic balance was used instead.
