This method can be used to measure the piquancy of a pepper or products made with peppers easily when access to high-end equipment like HPLC is not available. For example, one can measure the spiciness of a hot sauce at home if it is not labelled with the spiciness. Also, the mathematical relationship can be used in other experiments and projects to convert between the mass of extracted capsaicinoids and the piquancy of the pepper easily.

Also, one can use the extracted capsaicinoids for many medical applications. Capsaicinoids are known to be excellent pain-killers and recent studies show that they even have the potential to kill cancerous cells.
