In today’s society, protecting and saving the environment has become one of our top priorities. Fossil fuels, which release extremely dangerous gases, are being used to a great extent in both developed and developing countries. To save the planet for future generations, we need to find a different source of energy that is clean, renewable, and can be harnessed in great amounts (Planete Energy, n.d.). One of our many choices is geothermal energy. In simple terms, geothermal energy is the energy found beneath the surface of the earth. It is possible to capture this energy and use it to heat buildings or to generate electricity. After viewing this website, you will understand the need for a renewable energy, and why geothermal energy is a logical and efficient choice. The reader will learn more about its history, how the energy is harnessed, the controversies and issues, and finally, its potential for the future.
