What are electromagnets?

Discovery

 In 1820 Hans Christian Orsted discovered electromagnetism. He saw the needle from a compass was moving when the battery he had connected to wires was turned on. He discovered electric current makes a magnetic field.




Electromagnets
Electromagnets are metal items that have been magnetized by the magnetic field generated by  electrical current running through the wire that has been wrapped around it.
