Hypothesis I hypothesized that the tree bark from conifers would have the greatest antioxidating, antimicrobial, and antimutagenic effects since most current medicines made from tree bark are made from conifers. I also hypothesized that the experiment which heats the water to 100ºC would extract greater amounts of polyphenols, thus have more antioxidating activity and a greater antimicrobial effect since boiling tea increases amounts of antioxidants to be released so a similar effect should be true for tree bark. |
