Applications The results obtained in this project could give a once unusable byproduct of the forest products industry a new value, which will benefit both our environment and our health. Since the bark of the four trees I used are currently considered waste, my project gives them a practical and useful purpose. However, more experiments will need to be done to find which chemical(s) has the most antioxidating ability, microbial inhibition etc. In the future, I would like to fractionate the tree bark extracts in order to define the chemical compositions of my extracts. |
