Lego Robotics is made out of two things, Engineering and Computer sciences.

"Engineering, the science related to putting scientific knowledge to practical uses." As is the definition in the English Oxford dictionary.

In Lego Robotics Engineering comes into use when building your Robot. Mainly when you use the gears, axles and motors. Basically, by combining those elements you can make a Robot. Engineering is extremely useful when you have no idea about how to program a Robot, because then you can still build a Robot! Making a Robot is a lot more fun when you know how to build something. If your the type of person who plays with Lego sometimes, you'll probably be great at Engineering.

When you're building with Lego Robotics, you want to know as much about Engineering as possible.  I did an Engineering camp a few summers ago, so that's what helped me the most.

To top

If someone were to put a 24 tooth gear  against an 8 tooth gears, the 8 tooth gear should, for every 1 time that the 24 tooth gear rotates, rotate 3 times because 8x3=24 so if you think about it, Lego Robotics isn't only about Engineering and Computer sciences, it's about math as well!

Computer sciences comes into it all when you're programming your Robot. The NXT Mindstroms program allows you to program your Robot my using a series of boxes...............you  don't understand????? On the program they show you a bunch of buttons. If you click on one of those buttons a box appears.  You can have a box for gears, for any of the sensors and even a loop box, the loop box allows your Robot to never stop moving, or to be controlled by voice command etc. If you were trying to program  for the first time, even if you are already a wiz at computer sciences, you should get someone to help you, because programming your Robot is the hardest part of it all.
