Procedure

Making Seed Crystals:

1. On March 22nd we dissolved 33 g of copper sulfate in           100 mL of water.

2. We had to heat the solution so that all of the copper sulfate would dissolve.

3. We placed a sponge in the solution to collect the crystals.

Growing the Crystals from Seed Crystals:

1.    We dissolved 66 g of copper sulfate in 200 mL of water.

2.   We had to heat the solution so that all the copper sulfate would dissolve.

3.   We put the solutions at the temperatures that we chose to  grow each crystal at.

4.   We collected 3 seed crystals that each weighed 0.12 g.

5.   We tied a string around each seed crystal, and attached them to stir sticks.

6.   When each solution reached the correct temperature we hung each seed crystal in the saturated solution.
