Did
you know that lightning could only occur when there is a thunderstorm? Lightning
occurs most often in tropical places where the surface heating is hot enough to
produce storm clouds. In Florida there were 11-13 places per square kilometer
where lightning struck. Lightning starts many fires. In North America those
fires are mostly in the U.S., there have been 15000 of those fires in the last
ten years. They have resulted in a few hundred million dollars worth of damage.
