Sage grouse have brown, grey, and
black feathers. They have a white
chest with a black belly. Sage grouse
have long, pointed tails. Their body
is covered in feathers. Males are 65
to 75 centimetres long and weigh 2
to 3 kilograms. Females are 48 to 58
centimetres long and weigh a little
over 1 kilogram. Canadian sage
grouse are heavier than the sage
grouse that live in the United States.
This seems to be a special adaptation
to our colder, windier, and snowier
winter weather. Male sage grouse
also have air sacs. These air sacs are
covered by their white breast feathers.
Male sage grouse puff air in and out
of these sacs to attract females.
