Conclusion
My conclusion is that the Stone Mason is the best ice melting salt to buy. It melted the ice cube in 5:05 which was the 3rd fastest and only 15 seconds slower than the second place product Alaskan Ice Melter. Stone Mason’s impact on the strips of steel was very minimal. There was a light coating of surface rust on the unpainted strips and they were the least rusted of all of the unpainted strips. The painted metal had heavy tarnishing and about 10% of the surface was rusted which I ranked as the second best of all the salt solutions. The bean plant which was watered with the Stone Mason solution is the 2nd tallest and looks very healthy. It is currently 10” tall with five large leaves on it and lots of new growth. A 2.72 kilogram bag of Stone Mason cost $4.49 which is $1.65/kg. Overall the Stone Mason is in the middle of the group as far as cost, it melted the ice cube very quickly, it did only a light amount of damage to the steel strips and had no impact on the bean plant’s growth.
