Summary: For our project, we wanted to find out what dB level Avonlea High School Students listen to their iPods. To do this we asked them to set a volume level on there iPods at a comfortable level, then we recorded what decibel level that was. We did this to each person twice, the first time in a quiet room ,and the second time with a 90 decibel hairdryer in the background. We found out that in the quiet room about 60% listened to a safe level on their iPods. (0dB-84dB) and that with background noise about 60% listened to a harmful level. (85dB-120dB)

Software Tools: Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop

Hardware Tools: iPod nano and Digital camera

Idea: Everybody has an iPod these days, and everybody listens to them very loudly. We researched the symptoms of listening to loudly, and we created a problem form there.

Awards won: Silver medal in life science, silver in the health category, and a science center free family pass at regional science fair in Fillmore, Saskatchewan.
