Procedure

I used radish seeds as the plant species to be exposed to light because they grow rapidly and they can do so in small containers.  The measure of growth was the height of the seedling from the earth.

Seedlings were planted in serial plastic containers with sterile potting soil and these were placed in a rectangular box with a transparent top.  Each seed was planted 1 cm below the soil surface.  The transparent top was divided into five sections.  Four sections were covered in cellophane with the colours red, blue, green and yellow, whereas the fifth section was clear.  The entire plant box was placed on a window seal of a large south facing window of our home.

The plants were watered every second day and the height of growth was measured daily.  The end point of my experiment was two weeks
