           Usually, flowers receive the nutrients needed from the plant. When cut from the plant, the flowers loose the essential nutrients that the plant provides. But, flower foods provide the nutrients that they need. Flower food contains sugar for food, bleach to eliminate bacterial growth, and citric acid to slightly acidify the water. When using commercial flower food brands follow the directions precisely and use the appropriate amount suggested for the size of container. Flower food also enhances the fragrances of the flowers because of the nutrition de food provides. Flower food is one of the easiest ways to extend the life of your flowers.

 

          Flower food was made to try to recreate the environment flowers have when still attached to the stem of the plant and allow the flower to finish fully developing.

 

          The main functions of flower food are:
