The Universal Question

Necessities for Life

As scientists search for life in outer space, they are obliged take into account certain factors that would permit life to exist on bodies in outer space. These factors are known as the building blocks of life on Earth.

A combination of the element carbon and water provides the essential elements for life (“Extraterrestrial life”, 2007; Mars Polar Lander, 1998). When scientists search for extra-terrestrial life, carbon and water, the two main building blocks of life on Earth, are essential to their research (“Extraterrestrial life”, 2007, Mars Polar Lander, 1998). In other words, if a body in outer space contains either water or carbon, they would most definitely be heavily scrutinized by scientists for signs of life (“Extraterrestrial life”, 2007, Mars Polar Lander, 1998).
