Problem

For our science experiment, we are going to test to see if the amount of salt in water affects the buoyancy of an object.

And find out why!

Hypothesis

We think that the more salt in the water, the more the object will be buoyant. Because if you try to float in the ocean you will be a lot more buoyant than if you try to float in a pool, right? And we think that it’s the salinity of the ocean that makes us buoyant. We also think that if the water is very salty then you will float even more, because we heard that if you swim in the Dead Sea or the Great Salt Lake where it’s very salty, you will be very buoyant.
