Mathematical Inclination and Recreation:
Part 2
Discussion
Graphs 1 through 6 show a lot of variability in the
scores suggesting that there are a lot of uncontrolled variables in
this experiment. Students might play on sports teams outside of school,
or may be on school sports teams. Some weeks there may have been more
time in math class spent on data management than others. There also
might have been more time spent on gym during one unit, because of
assemblies and presentations. Also, some students might been absent for
several math lessons in one unit, and none in the other, which would
also affect their test scores. Some students may have also been absent
for several gym classes in one unit and none in the other. If I were to
repeat this experiment, than I would perform it on a larger scale, on
subjects of different age groups. I would also try to have more
controls, because an experiment like this has many variables.
