| Procedure for Model System Construction |
Using the table saw, cut the pieces of wood so they easily align with the side of the 32 in wood piece in terms of the angles mentioned below.
- Place the wood pieces at the angles of 93°, 94°, 96° and 102°, according to the attached diagram on the 32 in wood piece. The smaller angles and longer wood pieces should be near the bottom of the system.
- Use corner joints to connect the wood pieces together using the precise measurements.
- Solder the electrical wire pieces to the positive and negative ends of the solar panels.
- Attach pieces of double-sided tape to the back of the solar panels and place one on each “branch”, so that each panel is 3.5 inches away from the main structure.
- Using pieces of electrical tape, connect all the wires together to complete the circuit. (See Figure 7.) There should be two open ends to connect to any electrical object to complete the circuit

Materials for Single Panel System Construction |
-
3.6 in x 2.5 in Canadian Standards Association-Approved Photovoltaic Solar Panel (8 Volts or 40 miliAmps)
- Small Nuts x 2
- Small Washers x 2
- Electrical wires with Alligator Clips Attached x 2
|
Procedure for Single Panel System Construction |
- Put the washers on the two protruding screws from the panel.
- Wrap the other end of the wire (with no alligator clips) around the two screws.
- Tighten the two nuts overtop the connection.
