The best household cleaner to extract the most DNA strands from a sample of kiwi fruit was the laundry detergent Ariel.  A non-ionic surfactant, Alkyl Ethoxylate Sulfate, present in its chemical composition was very efficient in dissolving the protective lipid and protein cell membrane. As a result, it allowed us to obtain an average of 0.73 g of DNA strands, from an initial sample of 30g, which is 2.2 times more compared to the least efficient detergent - shampoo Fructis.
