For Christmas I got a Hot Wheels ™ Formula Fuelers car. To make the car go you need to put a liquid in the fuel cell which fits in the car. Some liquids work better than other liquids, so the car goes faster. With no liquid in the fuel cell the car would not go. When there is only water in the fuel cell, the car will also not start.

I saw the fuel cell was made of thick clear plastic and there were two metal nails which went through the plastic and touched the liquid inside. This made me think that perhaps the liquid completed an electric circuit between the motor and the batteries.

I wanted to find out how come certain liquids made the car go faster and other liquids made the car go slower.
