Home and Project Information
Hello! Our names are Sam Schultz and Mitchell Nabata. We are both grade 7 students at Simon Fraser Junior High School in Calgary, Alberta. One of our motives for doing this contest was that Sam entered last year and won some prize money. Also Mitch’s siblings Jordan and Elyse Nabata have both won in previous years and we now know a lot about this contest. Sam is our team leader and Mitch is the other member of the team. We both thought that it would be a lot of fun to do this project.
We choose the topic of Natural Disasters for our website project. We are both very interested in this topic and have always been interested in how and why natural disasters occur. Another reason is because of the recent tsunami disaster. The disaster really opened our eyes to the fascinating and destructive powers of nature.
Our goal for this project was to learn more about natural disasters, describe how each works and outline ways to keep people safe if one occurs. The four main natural disasters that we focused on are lightning, hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes. We also include information on other known natural disasters. When you have finished reading our information, be sure to try the quiz and word search on the Interactive page.
We really hope that you enjoy our project and learn a lot from it.
