Light Efficiency
Lighting Comparison
Incandescent Halogen Linear Tube CFL
Efficiency Poor Poor Good Good
Light Output per Watt  8 to 20 lumens
Purchase Cost Inexpensive Moderate Moderate Moderate
Lamp Life Poor (750 to 1,500
hours)
Moderate (2,000 up to
4,000 hours)
Good /Excellent (10,000-20,000 hours) Good (6,000- 15,000 hours)

1.            The majority of people in the world are using incandescent bulbs which have the work efficiency don’t last long at all are expensive for what they do and don’t produce a lot of light. Halogen light bulbs are almost the same thing. Linear tube is a better way to go. It produces more light at a ok price and last the longest of all the bulbs. The CFL (Compact Florescent Light) is just under the Linear Tube. Using florescent light bulbs will reduce costs up to 75% in lighting energy. When trying to save a much energy as you can you should do as follows:

Make use of natural daylight. This the best source you light you can get in the whole world. When trying to make use of this source of daylight you should do some rearranging like for example add a skylight or open you curtains.

Appliance Efficiency

1.
Fridges and freezers use up most of the energy bill. A ten year old fridge or freezer can cost a lot more that a new high efficient fridge of freezer. Most of the new fridges just have tighter door seals and better insulation.

            2.            Computers if left on 24/7 use up more energy than a fridge.  When not using your computer you should turn it off or at least turn of the monitor .

             3.            Make sure when purchasing and air conditioner you look at the energy efficiency label and make sure that you get the most efficient because it will cost a lot less.

        Heating Efficiency

Up to 1/3 of you houses heat escaped through you windows. Make sure you put up storm windows or plastic sheeting over them.

A dirty furnace produces less air that a clean one. Try to avoid heating places that are not used at all. You should close you fire place damper between fires. Close doors so that heat will be where you want it to be.

Tips

  • Turn of light when no one is in that room.
  • Turn off the TV when not watching it.
  • Only open the refrigerator for a short period of time.
  • Take a short shower instead of a long bath.
  • Put on a sweater instead of turning up the heat
