We are trying to figure out, which fabric softener ignites the fastest. We are testing Life brand, Bounce dryer sheet, Ultra fleecy liquid, Downey liquid, and a cloth with nothing on it. We are using a fabric that has not yet treated with any soaps or fabric softeners, however all fabrics have been rinsed to remove any residues from the factories. The point of our experiment is to prove that when you use certain fabric softeners or liquid fabric softeners, the cloth ignites faster then others or without any softener on it. Are experiment has proven many things. The Life brand softener took 14 seconds to ignite, the Bounce fabric softener took 3 seconds, Ultra Fleecy Liquid took 11 seconds, Downey liquid took 45 seconds, and the regular cloth took 7 seconds. We have proven that if you use softeners, your clothing is more likely to ignite unless you use Downey liquid, Life brand fabric softener, or Ultra Fleecy. Are hypothesis, in which we stated that it would be more likely to ignite when washed in liquid or fabric softeners, was proven wrong and correct at the same time. Most are less likely to ignite when washed is softeners but only one ignites instantly which is Bounce fabric softener. After doing this project we suggest that you should not use Bounce because of its dangers. We also found out why Bounce lit faster then others. Bounce fabric softener was based more on smell and had a stronger smell than any others. There is a product that makes it smell which is flammable. The product is called ammonia.
