Abstract

The objective of my project was to determine what treatment works the most effectively to lengthen nails. I tested and compared two different formulas of nail polish. One of them consisted of marine actives, and the other was a combination of protein and calcium. At the beginning of the week, I applied the nail polish on certain nails, and then removed it and measured them. I also measured natural nails as another comparison.

I supposed that the formula consisting of protein and calcium would lengthen nails the most because nails are made of a type of protein called keratin. The data that I observed showed that the marine actives formula was the most effective, followed by the protein and calcium formula, and lastly natural nails. Therefore, my hypothesis was rejected with the results of my experiment.
