Observations
Soda:
In the beginning, the gas bubble appeared in the jar quickly, then it got slower near the end,
and at the very end, it went quickly again. To fill the jar with carbon dioxide, it took about
35-40 minutes. While I was filling the jar, my Mom, my sister and I saw pockets of gas bubbles
moving up and down in the bottle of soda.
Yeast:
My Mom and I attempted the experiment twice without success.
Chemical Reaction:
The first time, even though we tried to collect the gas, we couldn’t because each time we added
the sodium bicarbonate and vinegar together, the reaction was too quick to collect the gas.
The second time I attempted this experiment, I was successful. I was able to collect one jar
full of carbon dioxide from the reaction. This was only due to the fact that I shook the bottle
constantly to make the substances react. It took a considerable amount of time to collect the
entire jar.
