Hypothesis

Guanosine is known to have many beneficial effects, including reduction in apoptosis in various models (Pettifer et al. 2004). Based on this and other research, the hypotheses for this experiment are:

1. When neuroblastoma cells are treated with MPP+, there will be a significant increase in the levels of alpha-synuclein (a protein associated with Parkinson’s disease) compared to control cells.

2. Guanosine will reduce the MPP+-induced increase of alpha-synuclein because of its aforementioned effects.
