First, I bought 4 African Violets. I cut off all but five flowers and left 5 buds. On each of the flowers I pun an X made of felt pen so I could tell which flowers were old and which were new. Then I put them under 4 different lights: an incandescent light (a yellow light), a fluorescent light, sunlight and finally, a black light (it gives off a purple light). I put all the lights and flowers in closets or storage rooms except for the sunlight plant.  I put it (as you guessed) in front of a window. Every morning at 8:00 I would exhaustedly get up and turn on the black, fluorescent and yellow lights. Then at 8:00pm I would turn them all off (except the sun, of course). This went on for 2 and a half weeks. Every 2 days I would give each of the plants 1/4 cup of water with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
