Similar results were obtained for the metabolism of the statins and inhibitors in rat microsomes. Intraconazole decreased the percent of simvastatin metabolized; once again showing that simvastatin is metabolized by the enzyme CYP3A4. The combination of pravastatin and itraconazole resulted in a decrease in the percent of pravastatin metabolized, which differs from the results obtained from the human microsomes.
