The concentrations of pravastatin and simvastatin were reduced, indicating that they were metabolized by the liver microsomes. Because the microsomes were composed mostly of the enzyme CYP3A4, which metabolized simvastatin, the amount of simvastatin metabolized was higher than that of pravastatin.
