Do you have problems with attention? Problems with friends? Do people seem mad at you and you don't know why? Maybe you have ADHD. A lot of people ask this question: what is ADHD?
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) is a psychological problem that causes extreme problems with attention, hyperactivity and lack of controlling impulses. You would know if you had ADHD because you would be able to recognize the symptoms before the age of 6.
ADHD was first studied in 1902 by Dr. George Still. It was the #1 mental disability studied, and still is today.
Occurrences
3-7% of school aged children have ADHD, but the we don't know how many teenagers and adults have it. More boys have it then girls, also it is found all over the world.

Causes
The cause of ADHD is unknown.
Before people thought that it was from bad parenting. Now that it is
studied, they know that it happens in the brain.
ADHD has a way of transferring from generation to generation ( if a parent had ADHD the child would probably have it too). If ADHD is not treated, the child will probably have a lot of other problems. (e.g. won't do well in school, won't have very many friends, will have trouble with classmates, etc).
In addition, 87% of children who have ADHD also have another psychological problem. Most of the time it's problems with behavior. Example: the child will probably end up doing drugs and other crimes, they won't have a very good job as an adult, and they will have more chances of having accidents. (e.g. car crashes or driving tickets).
