Project Abstract
The purpose of my project was to see if temperature effects hot air balloons.
My hypothesis is that the balloon with hot air will rise.
I used two balloons, tissue paper, scissors, glue, adhesive tape,
thread, hairdryer, pen, paper, meter stick, watch, table, newspaper.
For my first experiment I would blow up three balloons and place them
all in different places(one hot, one cold, and one room temperature). For my second
experiment I will blow up another two balloons and cover them with paper mache.
Then I will apply one layer of newspaper and one layer of tissue paper. When dried
I will pop the balloons and be left with tissue paper balloons. Next I will tape the
balloons to the table. Lastly I will blow air up the balloons one with cold air, and
one with hot air. I will then turn it off and see waht happens.
For my third experiment I will use the same paper mache balloons but be doing a different
experiment. I will put the hairdryer under the balloon but not
tie it to the ground.Then I will turn the hairdryer on hot and then do the same
with cold air. I will record the distance, time in air, and height that my balloons achieve.
