Title: A Study of Teenage Cheaters

Objective: To find out how may times an average student cheats and if cheating increases as the student gets older.

Hypothesis: I think cheating occurs more as students get older because the work is harder and tests are longer. I think the average student has cheated at least twice this year because it is second term and there have been at least two tests they have taken for every grade.

Materials:

-paper

-pencil

-computer

printer

-Calculator

-five classes of students ranging in grades seven to nine.

Variables:

Independent- Age of student

Dependent- amount of cheating

Control- The survey has to be the same for every student and the instructions for the teachers involved all has to remain the same.

Procedure

1) Make up a survey on the computer that has a place for the student to write their grades and how many times they have cheated this year.

2) Print out the survey and make enough copies for the entire class.

3) Give the survey for the class.

4) Pick up survey from class after they are done.

5) Sort the surveys into grades and total the results for each grade.

6) Find out the average times a student cheats in each grade.

8) Repeat this process with five different classes.

9) Average out all results from each grade and put the results into a chart.
