Hello. Our names are Susan Huang and Katie Lin. We are students of Simon Fraser Junior High.
We are in grade 9, and our science project centers on the subject of health. Our project is descriptive, and it is at a
standard level. We feel that our science project was a very important one, because it
applies to so many school children around the world. Our project is a local issue, but it relates to issues and events that
take place in every school on this planet.
Like many of those around the world, we are concerned with the issue of
bullying among children.
Bullying is a problem many have experienced. Bullying is a problem many have experienced.
Numerous school children are constantly being taunted for being different, and ridiculed for things they cannot control.
Something had to be done to deal with the bullying, so the staff of Simon Fraser came together and organized
the Peace Initiatives Committee. They came up with a program to help reduce the amount of bullying in,
and around Simon Fraser. This program was introduced as the Peace Initiatives Program.
The Peace Initiatives Program was carried out in Simon Fraser in September 2004. The whole school was
driven down to Bowness Park to participate in various activities. The activities were designed to let
the students work as a team. It was aimed to bring us together and cooperate under leadership and collaboration.
The intention of the Peace Initiatives Program was to make our school bully-free. We wanted to find out if
Peace Initiatives really worked. So we conducted a survey to see whether or not Peace Initiatives has affected the students of Simon
Fraser. Did Peace Initiatives reduce the amount of bullying in Simon Fraser? Did Peace Initiatives help students and teachers recognize
bullying more? Find out how the students of Simon Fraser responded to our survey in our website.
