Abstract

In our project, we hypothesized that when our test subjects got more sleep on the weekend, their score on the test (see appendix a, b) would go up. Our hypothesis was partially accepted, in the sense that they did score higher, but only marginally so. The amount of sleep had less of an effect than the knowledge of what would appear on the test. For all our subjects, the differences were never more than a couple of points. We had our subjects take a test on the weekday (when they slept less) and on the weekend (when they slept more), and compared to see whether more sleep led to higher test results. Since we had the subjects take the weekend test after they had seen the weekday test, the higher results may have been caused by the previous knowledge of the kind of test they would be taking.
