The
objective of this project was to determine whether or not different
types of music affect the memory of females in grade 8 and which type
of music is better for remembering random objects.
I thought it would be interesting because I am interested in psychology and the effect music has on the brain.
The results of my experiment rejected half my hypothesis and supported the other half. The subjects were equal when it came to memorizing objects with no music and with classical music, but most subjects did the worst with rap.
To do my experiment, I needed the necessary materials. I tested each subject 3 times, each time with a different type of music. The subjects listened to the music for 2 minutes, then they were presented with a tray of objects and asked to memorize as many objects as they could. After 1 minute the music was turned off, the tray was taken away and the subjects wrote down as many objects as they could remember.
In conclusion, I discovered that although concentrating with no music or classical music seemed to work well, the subjects had a difficult time concentrating with the rap music.
