Introduction

My name is Alex G.  I go to school at Simons Valley Elementary in Calgary, Alberta, and I am in grade six. This project is on Saltwater Crocodiles. They are called Estuarine Crocodiles sometimes. Saltwater crocodiles have the scientific name Crocodylus porosus. They come from the family of Crocodylidae, or as we call it Crocodilians.

I am very interested in giant lizards and large reptiles, but didn't know very much about crocodiles. I found out that the Saltwater crocodiles were the largest kind of crocodile so I decided to do my project on them. I got most of my information from the internet, but I thought that it would make my project better if I met a real saltwater crocodile.  They live in the wild near Australia, but we found this place in Drumheller called Reptile World that had one called "Salty".   My dad and I went there and took some pictures.

I will also be talking about other kinds of crocodiles too, as a comparison to the Saltwater crocodiles. I got some information from the Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller on Sarcosuchus (an ancient crocodile). We also thought that maybe the zoo had a Saltwater crocodile so I emailed them.  They didn't have a Saltwater crocodile, but had two West African Dwarf Crocodiles. We went to visit them too. My project will include information on Saltwater crocodile, West African Dwarf crocodiles, and Sarcosuchus.
