There are many key issues and controversies in the field of meditation. One of the controversies is that some people think that meditation is too religious and based completely on religion. In the 1970’s a Dr named Herbert Benson discovered that meditation is really good for your health and your body. That was one of the reasons why he made transcendental meditation. People also think that meditation does not work. Scientists have done over 600 experiments proving that meditation is an excellent way to stay healthy and relief stress. In their studies they also showed that meditation takes at least 1 month for the full effects to take place. Some of the effects of meditation like the reversing of the aging process take at least 5 years of meditating once a day for 15-20 minutes to look and feel 10 years younger. Most of these people give up after a month because they aren’t satisfied that nothing happened.
A part of meditation that most people haven’t explored is the effect that meditation can have on crime. 1 experiment on meditation was done to explore this topic and results proved that if everyone in a big city such as New York meditated, crime would drop by 40 percent. This is because meditation gives you a lot of self-confidence. Many people wouldn’t believe that that is possible, but there are many things in meditation that people wouldn’t believe. Examples are: if you meditate you will have a better sleep, lower blood pressure, decreased stress hormones, increased self-actualization, and many more things. Meditation is a lot more than people think and a lot easier as well.
