Conclusion

My hypothesis was that the bottled water would taste better because people are paying for it and are buying it a lot which probably means that people think it's better tasting water. My goal is to discover what type of water taste the best such as Dasani, Aquafina, Evian and filtered Brita water and Campbell River tap water. My hypothesis was rejected because the tap water tasted the best.

In my experiment, I've asked fifteen tasters to taste five different types of water Dasani, Aquafina, Evian, Campbell River tap water and filtered Brita tap water. The best possible score one person can give to one sample of water is five. The highest possible score for one type of water (e.g. dasani) is seventy-five for one experiment and I have repeated the experiment five times. Three hundred seventy-five is the highest possible score for the best water in my experiment. The tap water got the highest score at 299 out of 375, which means it's the best tasting water according to the tasters. Then came Brita with 269 out of 375 and Dasani with 239 out of 375. Also, Evian scored 215 out of 375 and last but not least came Aquafina with 213 out of 375. Although Brita had more excellent votes than the tap water, people thought that the tap water tasted better. According to the results, I think that the reason that the tap water tasted the best is because I tested people from Campbell River who are used to the taste which means that they may like it more.

The errors possible are the amount of water given to each taster and the temperature of the water which could affect the choice of the taster.

If I had to do this experiment again, I could change the types of water tested and I could also change the amount of tasters to taste the water. Finally, I could ask different people from different areas to taste the water because they wouldn't be used to the water, which would make the results more accurate.
