This experiment my hypothesis stated that antibacterial soap would kill the majority of the germs when compared to regular soap because of the special ingredient Triclosan. My goal was to compare the amount of bacteria growth on the plates when my hands came in contact with a surface loaded with germs. After finishing my results, the conclusion showed that my experiment, after washing with soap, there were no colonies found after 24 hours and 48 hours, which means that there is no difference between antibacterial soap and regular soap.My results could contain errors. Firstly, not having the same bacteria load each time after rubbing the dog. Secondly, I may not have swabbed the exact spot of the palm each time and thirdly, I could have indicated the soaps in a different order.
If I conducted an extension of this project I would use a surface with a larder bacteria load, use different brands of soap, or I could spend more time rubbing the dog so I have more bacteria and wash for lesser amount of time to see how well the soaps works. Antibacterial soap is absolutely no different then regular soap. Antibacterial soap is a marketing ploy to make people buy their product.
