Trans fats are used to prevent processed foods from becoming spoiled. Trans fats keep peanut butter smooth and chips tasting fresh, but our body cannot use much of this type of fat. Our body does need some types of fat but trans fat is bad for you all the way through.

You may ask how much fat is too much fat? You may wonder how much fat is in a McDonald Happy Meal? What about a triple chocolate shake? Or large fries compared to small fries?

Your liver, if not healthy, will not be able to handle too many fats and will begin to fail. Eating at fast food outlets more than twice a week for a year increases your chance of heart disease by about 20%.

No matter how you look at it, fast food laden with fat is a major problem in our society.
