How Does the Ord's Kangaroo Rat Communicate?
In the wild kangaroo rats like to live by themselves and do not seem to have many methods of communication. They fight each other by leaping up into the air and then they stand on their tails and slash at each other with their powerful back feet. They mark their home ranges by rolling in the sand and leaving different scents to tell other kangaroo rats to stay away or to come closer because they are looking for a mate. Mothers and babies seem to communicate to each other with sounds like quiet bird chirpings.
