Spoiled Oil
PROJECT ABSTRACT
My project is about trying to find out which material cleans oil spills best. I thought that out of all my materials, the sponge will
work the best. I thought this because a sponge is used to wash oil off dishes, so I thought it would probably work for my project.
The oils that I tested were vegetable oil and car oil. To clean the oil, I used a sponge, gauze, paper towel, cloth towel, and t-shirt material. I dipped each material into the oil for ten seconds and then measured how oil each material absorbed.
It turned out that my hypothesis was right; the sponge absorbed the most oil. This may be because the sponge was the thickest material. It may also be because of the reason above: the spnge washes oil off dishes.
