We allowed a cell to grow in culture for about 20 minutes; the growth cone(section of the neuron we examined) slowly developed; after 20 minutes we added 3% ethanol into the cell's environment for 20 minutes; and observed the degeneration of the cell. The cell had undergone rapid degeneration within minutes, and extended degeneration over the 20 minutes.
