A lot of research has been done on the complexities of the human brain, and the mysteries of the nervous system. Many things are yet to be discovered and interpreted. As High School Students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Programme, we have a hunger for knowledge and a deep urge for understanding. We decided to further investigate the human brain and how it works. Its fascinating role in day-to-day life is much more complex than simply allowing us to "think". There was much for us to learn about this mysterious human brain, so we decided to investigate one of the most essential events - the synapse. Our main inspiration was Dr. Naweed Syed, an experienced Neuroscientist at the University of Calgary. However our professor Dr. Pike also encouraged us to further investigate and to learn more. We found this material extremely interesting and we began this project eager to perform the experiments and to acquire the knowledge. We ended up learning things about the human brain we never even knew existed, and enlightened by the natural phenomenon’s of life.
