Discussion At the end of the experiment, it turns out that the plants grown naturally were longer than the ones that were grown with the addition of table salt. At the end of nine weeks the plants grown naturally were 10.8 cm long, and the ones grown with the addition of salt were 6.1 cm long. The experiment, therefore, proves that my hypothesis was true. I believed that the plants grown naturally would be longer than the ones that were grown with salt. After researching on the internet, I found out that salt that was brought in by floods decreased the amount of crops that grew yearly in Mesopotamia. If I continued researching on my project, I would like to find out if salt has a different effect on different types of plants. I have grown all my plants with the same seeds. I would also like to find out if seeds and soil for indoor planting can also be used for outdoor planting, and the difference between plants that are grown indoors and plants that are grown outdoors. I suggest that students do not experiment on the same type of topic since it involves a lot of work and you can not control the way the plant grows. It is most likely that the plants will not grow at all or die after a few days the first time someone tries the experiment. If anyone does decide to try and do their science fair with plants, I suggest that they have the help of an expert. |
