Lab 1 (refer to experiment 4):

In this lab, proteins were taken out of the fridge and heated at 95ºC. There was a charge of 150 in the machine at first and a charge of 135 at the finish. We poured a 1% running buffer into a BioRad (a container). We then filled up the inner chamber and heated the samples for approximately 10 minutes. 2 micro liters of betamercupto-ethanol was added and heated for 1 ½ minutes. Proteins were then added to the gel sample system. After an hour and 15 minutes, gel samples were taken out. The gel was then pried out and we took the stacking gel out as well. The gel was rinsed in distilled water and we added a gel code blue stain and mixed. The gel was then dried and put under cellophane in order to be properly preserved.
