Experiment 1:

In the first experiment human fibroblast cells were placed in two petri dishes and 5 ml of medium was added. On the bottom of each dish, two small circles were made with a black marker. Cells were then scratched with a 1 ml pipette using the circles as cross sections. Medium was vacuumed out of each dish twice to get rid of excess cells that were lifted from the bottom of the dish. 5ml of new medium was then added to both dishes. The placement and orientation of the cells was carefully noted and marked for each individual picture. Pictures were then taken of cross-sections and the dishes were placed in an incubator at 37ºC. One dish was placed under the laser (held in place by a ring stand) and the other was not exposed to any light (used as a control). Pictures of the cross-sections were taken at 24 and 48 hours. Observations were made and recorded in our lab book for further insights to be made.
