HOW DO YOU PROTECT YOUR
HOME FROM
EARTHQUAKES?

1)
Make sure that your house is well constructed and attached to the foundation.
Check your house regularly for termites or ants because you don't want
the wood to rot.
2)Attach all heavy objects, like furniture or appliances to the wall or ground
with 'L' shaped clamps. Use clasps (same ones as for baby proofing) to keep all
he doors of cabinets shut.
3)
Take off any framed pictures or other things with glass or pointy objects on the
wall beside your bed. Place the bed away from windows and out from under ceiling fans.
Close the curtains every night so that in the even of an earthquake glass won't
hit you. Under your bed you should keep an old pair of shoes (in case glass
shatters on the floor), a lever to open doors that might be jammed and a
flashlight.
