What is an Earthquake

An earthquake is when the huge tectonic plates in the earth rub against each other. Therefore making the ground shake for a period of time. Earthquakes usually last around 2 minutes or even longer. If the earthquake is strong enough and if it rates high enough on the Richter Scale, it can make houses and buildings fall. Which can kill many people.
